About Us
We are a family operation located 30 miles north of Kansas City near Plattsburg, Missouri. We bred Shorthorn cattle for many years and exhibited several National Champions in that breed. In the late 1990’s we decided to add another breed of cattle to our operation. With Rick’s years of experience in the cattle feeding and meat packing industries we understand what it takes to make all segments of the cattle industry money and were searching for a breed that would be commercially acceptable, but still have the show ring appeal. After looking at several breeds we decided Maine Anjou cattle most closely fit our needs. We purchased our first Maine Anjou female in the 2001 Class Act Sale and were so impressed with her that the following year we purchased our first herd bull, FJH Powerplus 502M, from Mike Hartman and additional females from Fred DeRouchey. We have continued to grow our herd with the goal of producing functional cattle with balanced EPD’s. One of the latest additions to our donor herd is an Angus donor who is in the top 1% of the Angus breed for $Beef.
Phenotype is also important to us and we have been fortunate to have been able to purchase and campaign successfully a number of great show females including DCC Playmate 140P, 2005-2006 Reserve Show Heifer of the Year and DCC Playmate 76R, 2006-2007 Show Heifer of the Year. We were very honored and proud when Rachael was named Exhibitor of the Year for 2006-2007. We have built our herd around females such as these and while we have enjoyed showing them what is more important is they are making great cows.
We have been growing our herd for the last few years and have now reached the point we are able to offer bull calves, a few bred cows as well as show heifer and steer prospects. Centrally located just north of Kansas City halfway between I-35 and I-29 we would welcome your visit anytime.
